What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a holistic, drug-free approach to healthcare. Chiropractors treat mechanical disorders of the joints and soft tissues by using their hands to deliver a high velocity low amplitude movement. This is called an adjustment, or a manipulation, which unlocks stiff joints and creates a reaction in the nervous system.
Adjustments can be used in conjunction with soft tissue work to relax tight muscles.
What is a Chiropractor?
A chiropractor is a regulated healthcare professional with a chiropractic degree from a university and is registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). Chiropractors are experts in diagnosing and managing conditions of the musculoskeletal system (muscles, joints and bones).
What does a Chiropractor do?
Before starting treatment, a chiropractor will do a full assessment. This will involve taking details about your condition, current health and medical history, and performing a physical examination. It is important for your chiropractor to gather as much information about your back pain as possible so that the most precise diagnosis can be made.
Do I need to see my GP first?
No, although we do take a lot of referrals from GPs, you are able to self refer to us.
Will I get treatment on my first visit?
I aim to treat on the first visit. On rare occasions this may not be appropriate, for instance if you need further scans or X-rays, or if I feel that you would benefit from a second opinion.
